Can't pour gas into Bayliner 2655 Cierra

I have a '97 Bayliner 2655 Cierra and can only dribble in gas at a snails pace (like 1 hour to fill 30gals slow). There's been some discussion on the topic, which suggests checking the fuel vent (put a new one on) and checking the the pour and vent lines (checked both and were unobstructed). I'm at a frustrated loss on my last fill. Same slow process. Bad on the knees at a fuel dock. Anyone with a similar Bayliner have a fix they can share? Thanks

Does the fill hose have a straight run to the tank with a downward slope. The reason I ask is a friend had a Chaparral that had a fill hose that followed a bulkhead for a couple of feet before it dropped to the tank. One of the zip ties broke causing the part of the hose that followed the bulkhead to sag causing fuel to sit in the hose. He had the same problem until it was discovered. Once he straightened out the line everything was back to normal.

It is your vent or hose. Even though the vent is new, make sure their is nothing obstructing it like paper or plastic. Then check your vent hose. Remove it and check for obstructions, kinks, and proper routing. If both fail, check the tank where the vent hose connects.

I once had a plugged vent and I shot a 5 foot geyser of gas about 10 feet in the air when I was trying to fill up (after putting only about 2 gallons in). Cleaned the vent and no more problem.

The Vent line should have ONE high point in the middle with both end lower.
Picture a very flat upside down "U".

Fuel coming up from the tank runs back to the tank.
Water splashed in from the vent fitting runs back out.
If the vent line goes up and down more than once, the low spot in the middle will become a "Trap" like under a sink.

Both the fill and vent hoses are clear and I can blow through each end when connected (to the gas tank and vice versa to the fittings). I siphoned some gas out of the tank through the fill hole in the tank, so no obstruction there. I did notice a loop in both hoses at the top ends (hose to fill cap and vent respectively). The loop is downward sloping on each hose (vent and fill cap). Still, I suspect that may be the culprit. I'm certain the hoses are factory OEM, so I'm wondering if the loop at the top of hoses is designed on purpose. For example, maybe there's a loop in the vent to capture water so it doesnt flow into the tank? I'm hesitent to cut the hoses shorter and eliminate the loops, if there's a purposly designed engineered reason for having those loops. Or maybe Bayliner can a design flaw in how they set it up?

The fill should be a straight shot. Water elimination should be a good sealing cap.

The gas cap should be good and sealed.
The Vent will always be open to the air and splashing is always a possibility.
The Vent line should enter the boat and go UP to a single high point and then down to the tank.

Again, picture a very flat upside down "U".

By "Loop"do you mean a 360 Loop/Coil of hose?
If so, definitely WRONG and you have found the problem!

If it is Factory, someone needs to be fired.
If a PO did it..... Is keelhauling still done?

There should be no loops and no slack in the line of a fuel intake hose. Its gravity fed. Would you find a loop in a toilets plumbing system? And if there is to much slack between the cap and tank the fuel only has to accumalate enough for the pump nozzle to sence it and cut off.
As for the vent hose, disconnect it from the tank. Then attach a small piece of hose to the tankleaving the other end higher then the tank and try to add fuel.
One of the above is definitely the problem. My money is on the intake hose, OEM maybe, But installed by the PO. Good Luck

Sorry, the fill hose does not have a loop, just the vent hose (see pics). As I mentioned, all hoses are clear, and I replaced the fuel vent. The only other things I can think of is that maybe the fill hose needs a bit more downward slant? But I cant see how the setup in the picture would be an issue... I was also thinking about is maybe the connection points to the tank are clogged. Is jamming a screwdriver down there not a good idea? I should add that I siphoned a ton of gas out of the fill connection point on the tank, so that must be clear as a bell. Maybe it's the vent connection to the tank.. This is very frustrating

Well you've only got two options here. It's either the tank fill or the vent. Take a small diameter dowel rod and shove it down the tank fill. If you get to the tank with no restrictions then you have a vent problem. It's hard to tell from your pic but the curl in the vent should be up, not down. If it's down you could have water/fuel blocking it, much like a P trap in your home sink. As Captain Losten Confuzed said, pull the vent hose off the hull connection and straighten it out. Then try to fill the tank.

The bottom pic, is that the vent line?

If yes, and that hose is filled with liquid, it will keep the tank from venting properly.
