Can't remove flywheel

I'm trying to figure out a no fire on #2 cylinder problem. I tried the tests in the clymer book but since I don't have a DVM adapter for my meter I get some weird readings. (I'm going to try and find a DVM adapter)

Anyways, I tried to remove the flywheel to visually inspect the stator and trigger. I got the bolt off and hooked up my puller, and it diddnt want to budge. So I broke out the impact on the puller, and ended up breaking the puller! Flywheel never moved at all. I've removed flywheels before, and never had this much trouble! Any advice? Any tips or tricks? Maybe a higher quality puller since mine was a Harbor Freight?

I had to cinch my puller up very tight and then tap the rim of the flywheel with a ballpeen hammer a few times to dislodge it. A little wd40 never hurts either....

You need to fabricate a puller out of heavy plate or if it is large enough use a harmonic balancer puller. Use the three screws in the flywheel as an attachment site. Really grunt on the center bolt and wedge a tire iron under the flywheel while giving the center bolt a good smack. A 3 pound fine adjusting tool works best. A 16 oz toy will not do it. If it still does not budge, use our friend heat in the center of the wheel. Propane torch is hot enough. It will let go with a satisfying bang.

OhMyGod! It takes that much to get the flywheel off of these?! I never had issues like that.

I used a harmonic balancer puller from an auto parts store, like $13. I did have to drill and tap the 3 holes bigger to fit the bolts that came with the puller, I tried smaller bolts that fit the allready tapped holes, but they stripped right out. I tightened the puller, then as Frank says, tap the center bolt with a 3 lb persuader, tighten again, tap tighten, tap .........................and eventually it popped off like it wasn't even on at all.

I just took mine off yesterday Exactly like Baxtr's reply. I even had to re-tap the wholes bigger because the stripped. After hitting it hard a couple of times it came off like nothing.:)
