I'm curious, how do you hold the flywheel when you use a air hammer?

WD40 is a lubricating oil, but it does nothing in terms of seized bolts. The best thing you can buy for a seized bolt is penetrating oil, like "PB Blaster". Let it pool
overnight on the inside of the nut. Then try getting a good hold of the flyhwheel and have another person give the nut a good hit with a good size center punch in the edge of the nut in the counterclockwise direction. That's always worked for me (if fact I just did it last night).

When you use a air impact or battery powered impact there is really no need to hold the flywheel.---Nut spins right off.

Never seen one not zip right off w/impact wrench. Guess you could use a dremel and slice most of the way through the nut then chisel/pry it off carefully.

It's not a left hand (reverse) thread is it?

No.

Hitting it with a hammer is not recommended. The shock is passed all the way through the crankshaft and into the bearings. It can cause micro cracking of the bearings which leads to early failure. Grinding the edge of the nut away and then removing what remains is probably the best solution.

Never had one that an air impact wouldn't loosen but what if the previous owner used loctite (red). Now that would be tough to remove. Dry the threads and see if you can detect any remaining reside where the threads of the crank meet the nut. Unfortunately you may not find any, but it could still be there.
