After finding to no surprise but my dismay you folks were right on target when it comes to the AQ125A starters being the only option is normally replacement because of the lack of repair parts.
Well with the replacement cost Ouch !!!!! the oem Bosch forget it, after checking all over the net the cheapest I could find for the 125A was $100.00 for an off brand prob. Chiney Charlie I opted to take this one apart thus the title above. Being the original complaint was the solenoid had gone to hell (stuck) and this is what I found.
As was told to me the parts are sealed and this is correct to an extent the thing is the solenoid is removable and the fact a replacement is not available shame on Volvo, as shown in the pic the (slug) was rusted to hell but being a sealed piece the rust stopped there after polishing the exposed area with 320 wet or dry I was able to soak some PB Blaster into the unit and using a mechanics syringe I was able to slip it between the slug and the seal and shoot some into the unit. working the slug in and out and flushing off the remaining rust got the thing working very well. next i removed the two screws that hold the elec. cap in place you don't much room but there was enough room to flood the inside with contact cleaner note use the Non Flammable type after shaking it around poured out and finished it off with a blow dryer. Bottom line after reassembly lubing all the parts with petro. jelly yes there are a ton of other stuff but I have never had it fail yet even in salt water and at $.89 a jar works for me the starter is now working like new. Now I'm not saying this is a fix all but in this case I saved myself no less than a $100.00 bucks and hope it may do the same for others after all the only thing you have to lose is a little time and effort.
