can't start 1987 Evinrude 4hp OB

Recently have been unable to start Evinrude 4hp OB w/ remote fuel tank. Starts when spray fuel or starting fluid directly into carb but then dies in few seconds after that burns off. Confirmed that fuel is at least getting to fuel pump by disconnecting and priming bulb. What would prevent fuel from getting through fuel pump into chamber?

Take the carb off and make sure that the float is not stuck. If it is it won't allow fuel to get in.

Chances are the carb is going to need to be overhauled. Get a new BRP overhaul kit and a gallon size of carb and parts cleaner. Remove carb and completely disassemble carb and remove core/welch plug/s, soak for 24hrs. rinse with fresh water and blow out any and all orifices with compressed air Reassemble per instructions!
