Can't start my boat

I am new to owning a boat. Got a chaparelle at the end of last season and was running fine. I remember I had to pump the throttle a few times and then pull it out to start it. However. Now I can't pull the throttle out and don't want to pull too hard and damage something. Any one have any ideas. Please help

This is a control problem if you can't engage throttle only. What control is in the boat?

Not sure of control. I can move throttle forward and backward. I can't pull out

Can you take a picture? There are different Mercury/Quicksilver controls and many aftermarket controls.

Does the handle pull out or is there a button to push in?
