You southern "friends" are just mean to the core. My boat is 3 hours north of here, surrounded by a tarp tent and snow. Two more months before she sees open skies above and water underneath.

Sorry to be mean to the core but just got back from smelling the orange blossoms along the shoreline of the Harris Chain. Man please I love this tome of year... cool mornings and warm sunny afternoons. The weather sux so don't come to Florida... really, I was hallucinating from boat exhaust.

I know the feeling. I just went and did some work on my boat where she sleeps today. It is 75 degrees here in Dallas today, but in Texas it can be 14 in a week. I don't dare pull her out of storage yet, as it would jinx this great weather.

Psychologically speaking, the most unhealthy thing Ive ever done is buy a new boat in the fall. I have paced myself on any work to be done, so I have an excuse to crawl into it every once in a while. Sick I tell you, SICK!!!

I have been caught sitting in it in the shop, with a fire going in the woodstove, and the stereo playing. My wife is sooo sick of hearing about boat this, lake that.

Thanks for the support group!!

I think I have it worse than the OP.
I bought my 2011 Starcraft Islander 221 new last fall and I have never taken then wrap off yet as it went right into storage.
I don't even know what she looks like yet!

Re: Can't....take it......any......longer.....AAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!

I have this posted next to my desk:

Call me Ishmael. Some years ago - never mind how long precisely - having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen, and regulating the circulation. Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people's hats off - then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can. This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the ship. There is nothing surprising in this. If they but knew it, almost all men in their degree, some time or other, cherish very nearly the same feelings towards the ocean with me.

You took delivery of a new boat without even inspecting it to make sure everything was in order?

If its not in order, I will personally drag it 2700km back to where it came from.
But seriously, this sale included untold calls and emails to ensure everything was done to my satisfaction. And if this very large dealer who had many Islanders to choose from can't get this boat right I really don't know who could. And the tech who did the pdi/inspection of my boat gave me a complete tour of the demo they had set up as well as running through the checklist on my boat. I had no idea that boats never came from the factory ready to run as I have done hundreds of PDI's on vehicles. I spent 3 hours picking up my boat and felt pretty confident about the sale when I left. And it has new boat warranty.
Now, could there be a huge dent in the hull that they were hiding? I also thought this but then my son put it into perspective when he said "dad, they asked you to pick which one you wanted".
The only thing I regret is not letting them install a kicker mount as the dealers out here are giving me grief.

I would just worry that if there was a scratch/dent or whatever in the boat, they would just say that someone probably hit it while it was in your driveway.

Then I will pay the $75 deductable and get it fixed. Maybe a big rock bounced off it when I towed in across Canada? I am going to use this boat so it would have to be a considerable dent to make me think of claiming it.
Now look what you have me thinking about! And I went the entire winter without any anxiety!
It may be -25 and snowing but I am going to get it tomorrow and unwrap it!

Sorry to get you all worked up. :D

I don't know how you had the willpower NOT to unwrap your new toy.

When I bought my convertible a few years ago, it was autumn and cold. My 12 yr old son and I put on winter jackets and drove around with the top down! :p

We went through a sobriety checkpoint during our ride. After realizing that I had just bought the car, The cops got a big kick out of it. :p

Unless the weather goes completely berserk I am splashing in 2 weeks, I have a camper top on my fishing boat is all really need is an open ramp and I don't think the rver has frozen once all year here, on a normal year that is the stick, you have to wait for the ice jam to break from the launch.

My boat prep has a hit a real snag though, someone gave me a pool table which ended up in the garage and it is a huge distraction but I am sure when it gets closer I won't have a problem getting around.

I woke her up last week. Off with the winter cover, on with a new 'normal' cover, painted bits of the trailer, repacked bearings. It's going to get the drive serviced this week then it's hitting the water on paddys day when the ramp opens. It is still pretty chilly here though although that's never stopped us before!

I love this time of year! Good bye winter blues :D

ugh! you guys are killing me! My boat is yet to be handed over, sitting in storage at the dealer until April. This fresh 6" of snow is putting a hurt on my early spring prayers! I guess it gives me more time to read up on boats on iboats!
