Cap corner firberglass repair

I took a nasty wake while fueling up at the end of last year. So hard, it ripped of my rub rail and took the corner fiberglass with it. I will be replacing all the run rail from the aluminum to a flexible vinyl with an insert.

My questions are:

1. Can I use this kit and if so, will one kit be enough?

2. What should I use as a backing to form the corner without it bonding to the hull?

I doubt that kit has enough materials to do all that repair properly. Use plastic tape. The 2" clear packaging tape works well to protect the hull from bonding. Even plain old wax paper will work.

I think that the kit may have just enough resin to do the repairs. The issue will be if you have a spillage incident or something, then you may run short.

thanks for the feedback George and Ted......so the 3 sq/yds mat should be enough by the time I fair back. but get more resin and harder for the safe side. This will be first time working with fiberglass.

It's 3 sq/FT not yards. One wetted layer will be about .020" thick and you need to get to what? about 1/4". IMHO, You will need some CSM (chopped strand mat) and more resin than comes in that kit.

Thanks George....my tired eyes saw something different...lol

was just reading the how to stickies and a few others, I think I have a good starting point on the materials needed now. ;)

Hope you guys won't step by step pictures to review my progress. :D
