Hi - I have a mid-80s Bayliner Capri with matching 85HP Force outboard. Appears to have stock control unit Engine usually generally start quickly and is a strong runner, but is sometimes hard to start after a run, and and will sometimes stall repeatedly when first put in gear. I can't find any capacity for temporarily increasing the idle speed while in neutral, which I think would help with warm-up

Choke works fine, and I am holding key down to engage while cranking (when cold or not starting easily when warm).

Any advice about fast idle and/or initial stalling?

Thanks!

Re: Capacity for fast idle adjustment on 85hp Force

There is an idle screw that can be set located at the bottom of the control tower. The control tower links the carbs and the timing rod and at the very bottom of it is a screw for adjusting idle. As for fast idle, there are generally two ways to do it. One is to push a center button on the control lever and then push the lever forward. Second, on some models, you need to pull out the lever (directly outward towards driver) and pushed forward.

The fast idle in the shift lever.
Pull the lever out and push the throttle forward.
My twins, one motor has a fast idle of up to 2800-3000 rpm's
The other only gets to about 1400 at fast idle.
It's enough so I don't mess with it.
The idle RPM's what are they in N and motor warm?

Not aware of a fast idle adjustment. Adjust idle normaly and fast idle will do it's thing.
