Capacity Plate Question

My boat has a capacity rating of 6 people or 1150 pounds. My question is this, is that the max number of people, or pounds? Can I have 8 people, if the total weight is under 1150? Or if I have 4 guys at 300 am I maxed out. It doesn't say 6 people or 1150 whichever is greater. I kind of looking for a new boat and I'm trying to figure this out in order to purchase the proper size boat.

yes it does mean whichever is greater. and yes 4 guys at 300 would be over weight

you have to look at it both ways, is six people to many but the the you add gear, i mean rods and tackle. I took me my wife and three kids out the other day. we didn;t max out, you have to add in cooler gear and gas, but my to sons and i were the only three fishing and nearly hooded wife and daughter, so 5 is to many, not enought foot room to say. so you have to think is 6 people on a bout ok, or is 4 at 300lbs to many. So you need to see what you will be doing just riding or ski or fish and see what you think.

That's 1150# TOTAL.

That includes-people, gear, gas, engine----everything.

in very simple terms do not exceed 1150 lbs with people and gear/cargo and ALSO do not exceed 6 people
You can not legally have 7 100 lb people and if you weigh 600 lbs you can not legally take your 600 lb buddy with you..... If you and your buddy each weigh 575 lbs you could go out but you can't take a fishing rod.
