I tend to go overkill. That’s why I thought I would ask. Should I even put cloth done? Hope some of you guys can jump in with some help. I don’t want to waste my supplies if I don’t need to

Any suggestions?

My vote would be to simply repeat what you've done on the underside - from a purely waterproofing standpoint, it should be more than sufficient.

I plan on glassing the bottom and tops of mine, too, after thoroughly soaking it in resin. Many say it's not needed once you fillet any gaps with peanut butter, but it's an added bit of insurance.

Once I foam, I want to do everything that I can to keep it from getting wet.

I've never heard of not glassing the deck with something. 1700 will be grainy, lighter fabrics are gentler in that regard.

Well a good coat to seal the wood and then today a layer of 17oz biax was laid down. It is sealed and I don’t think there is any chance of water getting under there unless I hit something ;). Next step is starting design work on the bow seating and storage. Then center console can get some attention :). No more under deck work. Makes me happy to get the big hard work stuff done ✅

Yea but now it's all the little time consuming stuff. I can't believe how much little stuff there is that ends up taking an hour and bam the night is gone.

Amen... Hence 2 years to finish my boat lol

I pulled the SBC on my boat in January of 2016.....3 years later and I am only now seeing the light of finishing the hull so I can drop in the rebuilt motor, etc.

Did I miss pics of the center console?

Nope you didn't miss anything.. I have been crazy busy at work for the past couple of weeks. Working 6 day weeks :( Being in the RV industry and spring now approaching, we get really busy. Spring tune ups, sales, maintenance, repairs, etc. The list goes on. But I have been working on the boat little bits here and there. I decided to stop work on the console and get some other things finished up like laying the glass on the deck.. Which is 17oz biax...

Had to make another big mess with grrrrrrrinding again to clean things up.

Then a coat of resin to seal all the wood and then the cloth...

I will tab up the sides about 10". Only reason why is I want to make sure I put some back that I took off with the grinder.

Then I decided to start my front bow seating.. I tried to trace the outline of the sidewalls but THAT SUCKED MONKEY B@LLS. So I grabbed some 1" cardboard strips and hot glue.. And that worked sweeeeeeet.

Also I got all the wood pieces that were in the stern area on the back and sidewalls that I pulled out. Ladder support, sidewall supports for trailer, and a couple other ones that I don't know what they were there but I put them back :)

I wanted to get the front seating mostly finished so I know how much room I will have and where to set the console in it's final spot. This was I can make and changes that I need. I have made a couple more small panels for the console as well. I have that in my basement where I can work on it at night when I don't want to be in the garage.

This weekend I plan to cut the top of the bow seating benches and get that in place to finish the front up then PB and tab it in place... Here are some ideas I am playing with that I hope I can get close to..

We will see what happens...

Ya it is and it's not fun sometimes :( 2 nights now I have laid in bed wide awake for over 2 hours thinking of how I can layout the bow seating, the sundeck and back seating.. It would be cool to make the back seating and dog house all one piece that I could use struts or electric gearing of some sort to lift it up so I have FULL access to the engine bay and sides etc. BUT HOW????

Scatterbrains again ;) Question.... How thick do you guys use for the sidewalls??? I plan to mount them permanently but have cut outs in them for rod holders, stuff from your pockets etc. and leave the top of the inside open so I still have access. Would 1/8 ply covered in a layer of 6oz cloth be enough? should I use 1/4"? What happens if I mount it top and bottom secure? Would it crack or anything from bouncing around on the lake/bay? Any input would be great :)

;) I'm still planning a mid June splash!! I know I have a fair bit to do but I will kick into a higher gear soon. The weather is finally breaking and we hit 9 degrees today!!! Makes a big difference.. I can't wait to have the garage door open when I'm working..

Gotta still flip the boat I think so I can sand and paint the hull... That's another thing.. What colors??? Bright orange and grey? White and silver?? I dunno :(

Ya that's what I was thinking as well when it was mentioned on here I should look for a newer engine and drive.. Oh boy :( I think I will be spending a few weeks alone on mine just cleaning, painting, blinging it out... It is a good working engine., I will go over it completely before I drop it back in. Fire it up and stuff as well... knowing my luck I would put it all back in and it would be messed up and I would have to go looking for something else..

Yes. I have the same problem tracing the hull to get somewhat decent stringers. Looking good.

Cardboard works awesome!!! doesn't matter if you hae to use smaller strips either, glue them together..

If you are using the string technique, I would suggest once of you have all your measurements, got get a piece of that white plastic trim at the hardware store, it will help with your contours. Me and the boy did it together for the deck curves and it went really nice... It bends really easy for you.\

Just a thought :)

No no Scott don’t say that. Well I winterized mine last winter then when I pulled it out, it’s been inside our shop covered. Maybe next week I will take a look at it and jump the starter to make sure it turns over. Man I don’t want to have to start to look for a new engine and drive. If I do, it will be a V6 this time ;)
