Just wondering if anyone knows their stuff when it comes to car audio.. mainly subwoofers .. i have this one now..(actually had to get the metal guard when my brother stopped useing it so i dont puncture the speaker with any of my tools)

picked this up for free for the girlfriend..

now i wanna see if it works.. so im hoping i can just run the wires from my amp .. and just insert them in the back of the other one... but will it have enough power.. its 1200watts

Those look to be 10"s. Your 1200 watts is plenty. As a matter of fact if the amp is a true 1200 and has MOSFET technology then it'll probably blow them. Start it nice and slow till you start getting distortion and back off a little.

That L7 solo baric will need alot of power. Make sure you get a cap and install that properly to supply your amp. Most shops wont tell you that voice coils typicaly break because of UNDER POWERING your subs. With that being said Supply your subs with good Effeceint power, Clear signials, and break it in properly. It should last you many years.


Also Most Importantly!!! Your system will only be as strong as your weakest link!!!

what do you mean a cap? ill make sure to do it that way when i put them in her car. but is it safe to just slide the wires in for now just to test them. or no?

He is referring to a capacitor to keep the power spikes down and normalize it. You can pick up some good ones at most audio places. You should be fine to test but I would start out real slow. The frequency response of the box is going to be different than the tube.

With Audio, it isn't a matter of just plugging it in. There are many variables but for a test, you should be just fine. If it were going to be a permanent install, let us know. Lot more tips to have.

thanks guys.. i hooked it up today.. its an old style plug in where you slide the wire thru the hole then screw the top down on it.. im gunna keep them in my car for the week just to get it up to where its suppose to be.. but these things are LOUD.. for being free their better than mine that cost 500.. probably saturday ill be putting them in my girlfriends car so any tips would help for that..

Alright, i need help with choosing an amp now.. the subs say 4ohms/150watts/2channels.. so if im understanding this correctly i would need an amp that says 150watts x2 channels for 4ohms .. kinda easy but just makin sure

One of the better mfg's almost snob hifi and kmart price's they are a very solid amp...but made in china...thats the reason for the insane price..but you wont find a better buy that i know of

That's not a bad amp for the price. You are only getting 200 watts at 2 ohms but it is mosfet powered which will help with clean sound. Maybe good enough for the price and only driving woofers. To get more bass at higher volumn level, look for a little more wattage. You can power woofers with more wattage as the listed number are generally peak power.

Also, does your radio have a pre-amp out or are you wiring with speaker wire? The preamp is the way to go for this but just make sure your amp will accept wired inputs if you don;t have a pre out. You should also consider a passive crossover for this so that you remove all the highs and mids and you only drive the amp with the lows as that's all you woofer will drive.

Naw you missed the bridgeing part did you 400 inot 4 ohms .....just a little wiring needed not..
