Re: car hit my parked boat & trailer

X2 this very wise advice. I was rear ended 18 months ago and I had the ball installed on my trucks reciever hitch. While the Toyota that hit me from behind suffered a major hole in his front bumper, it appeared to me that I suffered no damage at all. I took the truck tot he body shop just to have it checked out and sure enough, they found my hitch was cracked and it could have failed while towing the boat.

I squeeked by with a close one.....have that stuff checked out before you tow it again.

I climbed under and checked the reciver hitch, welds & bolts- they all look good. I bounced up & down on the ball and it seems perfect. Truck is rated to haul 8800 lbs, I imagine its pretty stout. I too have been rear ended by a car that only hit my hitch--really tore up the front of the car and nary a scratch on the hitch. I always keep it installed for that reason, plus I back into stuff too.

The marina shop gave the insurance adjuster a $650 estimite to repair the trailer and boarding ladder. I have not heard back from them yet.
I did find & purchase the original bottom half of the damaged ladder from fellow iboat member Frank A. who parted out a simular modle boat. Thank You Sir. I like the original.
I do appreciate everyone's input & comments, Thanks!

Nice looking boat/trailer! Sorry for the troubles.
Glad you found a replacement for the ladder.
Also glad you have a shop you trust to fix it up, have a nice neighbor, and seem to be getting good cooperation from the insurance.
