Leave some of the plants and tell your wife that it is garden art for the front yard.

She will be happy to insist that take it and have some fun restoring it.

I hope you are feeling sicker and that your illness is contagious...
Glad to see that the CarAqua has found a good home to await its eventual fate...
Given that you need to finish the Ebko, enjoy it, and eventually save up enough time and money to dig into the C-A...that should give you plenty of time to sort through all the bits and pieces you will need to buy, make, scrounge, borrow, steal or beg to bring it back to its former glory...
Gonna be a fun one to watch...

Taking a break from sanding on the ebko....looking for input on how to go about repairing the bottom of this boat..outer skin of the hull is very thin and flimsy...25 years of sitting in dirt and rocks has left it pushed up where the keel was in contact with the ground...

my first thoughts would be to sit it up and shim it till it is flat then put a new skin layer on it then fill is like it was when made...with balsa core.

Caraqua: A Boat that Looks Like a Car | firstcoastnews.com

This guy restored one and claims:

"DeGoursey says this is one of only eleven boats like this in the world that he's aware of. he says it's probably worth a good deal of money"

Ya I saw that..think he might be talking about the VIP model...I would like to know how many of these thing were made though...

I was never fond of balsa cores, not much strength there in my opinion. If you want to stay with a core, why not use foam board, and I don't mean white Styrofoam, more like a high density pink or blue board. Either that or build up some layers of 1708, but that would add a ton of weight.

Watching Overhaulin' last night and they were using metal strips to hold fiberglass in position to reglass...that will work for the bottom...now I have a plan...

Re: Caraqua - bring a shovel?

Guy that sold me the Aqua found a picture that was taken about 6 years ago. Shows the Bow light laying in the front of the boat and the seat frames. Will give a way to find the correct replacement...

not sure but is that a cowl behind the boat?

Kinda looks like the remnants of a putting green on the hood /bow .. I think Jb's racoons have done a bit of ransacking over the years . Ya might find the rest of the o/b in his garage ! :D

Re: Caraqua - bring a shovel?

Hello?

What's this?

How did I miss this development?

Someone else fell victim..... Welcome to the MBS club :)

Wonder what else I've missed this summer.....

Great possibilities! Good luck, and on the plus side, it's got less then 1/2 the SqFt of Gelcoat of the Ebko :watermelon:

Is that windshield bracket a left or right only or would it work for either side?

Re: Caraqua - bring a shovel?

Trooper - The pic might give an idea on seat frame placement, but the bow light location may be off a bit. :)

Is she still covered awaiting your future attention?
