I have tried the method that was "stickied" in the firums but it doesn't seem to work quite right. When I do it like that the carbs run at 1000 RPM with the carb butterflies closed all the way. This seems to be wrong. The fule system has been totally gone through so I can't quite figure this out. It seems to be running rich too, but I feel like there is something I am missing. I have new plugsin it. Compression checks out fine. I did accidentally put in some mid grade octane gas, but I added octane boost to help. The carbs were rebuilt lsat year. Has a new stator and rectifier and trigger. I was chasing a major problem last year. So it got bunckes of my money. It does run well enough but just seems off. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you are only adjusting the carbs. You really need to do the full link and sync instead. Adjusting carbs is only part of the link and sync sequence. Each link and sync step must be done and they must be done in the proper order, as each step is dependent on the previous steps being done correctly.
