Re: Carb Adjustment
Hi,
Assuming the Throttle Valve Sensor is working, and You use correct spark plugs (NGK B8HS) and gap (0.35-0.39 inch), there are several things that must be within specification:

Float level height:
DT140 1986-on, 0.39-0.47 inch.

Idle speed adjustment:
Assuming the ignition timing is correct, run the engine for 5-10 min so it is warmed up. Lightly seat the pilot idle screw and back it out number of turned specified - for DT140 1986-1988 1-1 1/2 turns out.
Then in water with a warmed up engine shift the gear into forward and adjust idle speed adjusting knob (on idle speed adjustment switch) to bring the RPM to about 600-700. Make sure the chocke valve is in full open position.

Where the screws are located mentioned above can, I belive, be seen if you go to brownspoint.com Parts Look-Up and select DT140 and 1987.

I assume the carburator linkage is already adjusted correct. If not that must be checked also so all throttle valves follow (fully closed and fully opened on all of carburators) as the throttle control lever is moved.
I assume also that carburator repair kit for each carburator has been installed (gaskets and float needle valve+seat).
