I have a question with nothing to do with a problem. I was just wondering if there is a proformance differrence between the two different types of Carb Base Gaskets. I have seen on that is a single cut-out and the other is cut to shape with four holes (two for the primary, two for the secondary.

It seems to me that the first would allow for free communications between the primary and the other isolate them.

Re: Carb base gasket

The difference in the gaskets was due to the differences in the intake manifolds, some were open (single plane), some were four holers (dual plane)

You need to use the 1 that Matches the Manifold used.........Not necessarily the Carb....

That I can understand. And to be honest I can not remember ever seeing an open manifold. so I guess it would make a difference in the operation of the secondaries. What I mean when the lower butterfly opens it would draw air from the primary, and the upper butterfly would not open or be delayed.

OK, what I mean is if you use a gasket designed for an open plane manifold on one that has the four holes there will be a gap or opening between the primary and secondary throtle plates. so when the secondary starts to open air will be drawn from the primary delaying or preventing the secondary plates (upper) from opening on time. That is my understanding, or am I reading into it?
