I have a 1986 15hp Evinrude O/B. Its been a great motor! Let it sit for about 6 months maybe longer. First time out in awhile hard to start and idle, ran okay with open throttle.
Checked plugs and looked soaked with oil. Bought new plugs,(leaned the fuel)I try to run 50:1. Cranked on hose at home okay for a couple of minutes, then rough idle again and new plugs looked oil soaked. Could this be gunked carb? If so can I just remove carb and soak it in carb cleaner and reinstall without having to adjust anything? Anythiing else cause this problem. If I remove carb should I take off float bowel and claen ?
I am somewhat mechaniclly inclined but no expert.

Hi, Tiki Tabe.

Step one: Get a repair Manual BEFORE you mess with anything unfamiliar.

Your problem could be the carbs, but it is more likely to be the Link 'n' Synch adjustments.

Good luck. :)

Afirm what JB said, plus the oil is mixed with gas, so the plugs aren't oil soaked, they're fuel soaked. Flooded.

c/6
Hooty
