Carb cleaning help(2 part ?)

I took one of my carbs apart last night as I intend to rebuild them. Before I took the carb off I decided to squeeze the primer bulb to listen for air after removing the cover as I've noticed this sound before but couldn't pinpoint it with everything in the way. The air escaping(best description possible) was in the top carb on the left when looking at the outboard from the boat. Any ideas on why it is doing this, I think this may have something to do with my idling issue after sitting on the water. I decided to pull that carb apart since it was making this noise. The carb upon visual inspection is clean, however don't know about the jets yet. Can the jets be cleaned effectively without removing them. I hate to remove them as it sounds like the idle adjustment procedure will be a royal pain the neck, or would it be better to totally remove them and then spray carb cleaner(manual says to use rubbing alcohol) in them. Engine is a '94 225 Johnson.

Unless they're totally gunked up, just spray through them with carb spray and blow them out with compressied air. Alcohol is useless as a carb cleaner. The air escaping is probably just being displaced by gas filling the bowl and escaping out the bowl vent.

Yep, that's a vent and it is supposed to be there. When gas goes in the air has to get out...
