carb cleaning question

I had a couple of questions about trying to clean the carbs on a Johnson fast strike outboard that I pre-mix the gas and oil. I've heard of using sea foam spray in the throat of the carbs and even jewelry cleaner but I want to make sure I don't do something to damage the outboard. Give me some tips please. Thanks

You need to take the carbs apart to clean them as just spraying down the throat cleans only the carb throats.
you can soak the carbs in carb cleaner and then blow compressed air or wd40 or something down every single hole and make sure it comes out somewhere else, that ensures no blockage is present. Doing that to every single hole is very important.

ps dont use anything like jewellery cleaner, who knows what deposits that will end up from that in the motor

Well spraying anything into the throat of a carb will do NOTHING to help the carb. The carb must be taken apart completely, cleaned (Yes I do know people who have used a Jewelry cleaning ultrasonic cleaner to clean the smaller parts) and soaked in cleaner as stated above and then re-assembled.

Spraying sea foam into the throat of a carb will help clean the rings in the cylinders and is done as part of the process to de-carbon a motor.
