Help!
Just bought a used boat and the carb on it looks real real bad. The boat was neglected and let set a long time. To rebuild the carb it would take some serious cleaning and scouring, maybe possible. I've rebuilt automobile carbs before but this one is bad.. Anyway, in trying to id the carb it looks like it's a Weber but most of the numbers off it don't match up with searches I've run. 9600S 0905 stamped right on top, there are some other numbers elsewhere also. Plus it has a W symbol(looks like a heart)on it Does anyone know for sure what this might be. What & where is a good resource for parts or replacement. Also could this engine be upgraded to something like a throttle body injector type carb? Thanks in advance for your reply....

Bondo, you are my new hero. I have been looking for jets for this carb to compensate for an intake cam swap. If I can use parts from the 1406 then that makes it simple.

Thanks for the info.

The model # is 1409, and you would want to start with the 4.3 kit #1485. The "standard" tuning is for a SBC.

You are both right. They are the "same" carb. 1406 - non-emission auto
1409 - marine
All of the soft parts and tuning parts are identicle.

#1409 is the marine version, I am going to try one on my volvo 5.0 GL. $100 or so cheaper than the holley, and I put one on our dump truck and worked great out of the box.
