Hello,
I just acquired a 1972 water wasp with a 1962 evinrude Fastwin outboard. It hasn't been run for about five years, so I thought I would clean out the carb and rebuild it if I can find a kit. I dont see much for markings on the carb, so what do you suggest for tracking down a carb kit?
Also, is there a simple way to put a safety cage around the prop? I want to use this to teach the grandkids with and would like to make it idiot proof.
Thanks for your help!

Carb kit should be available here at iBoats.

Part number 18-7022 (with float) or 18-7042 (without float), available right here at iboats.
Part number 396701 available from any Evinrude dealer.

Hi lazy. Zephyr is right. You should be able to get a carb kit right here:

You may want/need to get a new float if the motor still has the old cork version which can/do break down, especially with the ethanol in modern gas. You can get that here too, if need be.

And here's a handy link that can walk you through the job. It's not the exact same model as yours, but all of the steps are the same. Good luck. Keep us posted. Holler if you get stuck.

Actually, I don't think that year has the cork float. The old one should be ok if not mutilated or something.

My '62 Fastwin had a cork float. I would suggest getting the kit with the new float.
