on my 58 3hp if i tilt the lower unit all the way up (horizontal) it spills fuel out the front of the carb. is this normal behavior out the vent or is something loose? both jet rods are recently repacked and appear tight. thanks, jon s
very normal. when carbs are out of level the float valve is out of level, thus opening, allowing fuel thru. turn of gas at tank, or disconnect hose before tilting, you will still get what is in the carb to leak out.
I just shut the fuel valve off before tilting up to move to the next spot. Never had any fuel leaking out. If the float valve isn't completely closed at tilt angle, it'd make sense that it would overfill and come out the carb overflow..
