Carb Linkage

I have gone through a link and sync and have a question:

When the carb linkage is adjusted so the carbs hit the full throttle stop at the same time, they all three don't go back to the idle stops on the carb, and if I adjust it so they all three are on their idle stops, they don't all three hit the full open stops on the carb.

Very close, but I'm wondering if the slop in the plastic linkage is normal?

Re: Carb Linkage

To be a little more clear, if the carbs are fully closed it would seem to me that they should also all get fully open.

Re: Carb Linkage

I have done it twice, and I will do it agin thanks (I'm sure I'm missing something).

Problem is that it seems when the top carb starts to open, there is a little lag until the second carb starts to open due to play in the linkage (very slight movement). Then, playing with it, if I preload it and take out the play, the lower carbs hit the max stops before the top carb gets there. Again, keep in mind that I am talking about a very small amount (less then 1/32). Might all be normal, but I was just curious.

Re: Carb Linkage

The carbs should all open and close at the same time that's what the bolt and slot on the top of the 2 lower carbs are for

Re: Carb Linkage

They were adjusted with the bolts on the top of the plastic linkage bar between the 1/2 and 2/3 carb. There just is a little slack the way the bar and carb attach with the slat type attachment. If I preload that bar/slat setup so they start to open at exactly the same time, then the lower two carbs hit the max throttle stop on the carbs a tad befor the 1 carb does. Just a little give and take I guess due to the design of the linkage.
What would you to to set it up?

Re: Carb Linkage

I vote for having them open at the same time. The difference at WOT will be not important.

Re: Carb Linkage

Thanks. I fixed the issue by closing the slit on the throttle rods as they leave the bottom of the carbs and hook to the plastic linkage pieces. Nice and tight now, with no slop at all.
