Carb motor operation at high altitude

I have an '87 OMC Cobra with a Chevy 350. Carb is a Quadrajet. I almost always boat at or near sea level. I am planning to take my boat to Lake Tahoe this summer. The lake elevation is 6,225. If I don't adjust the fuel mixture, will the boat still run half decent? I know it won't have the power it usually does, but that's not a big deal to me. I really don't want to mess with the carb because I'm a novice and I am afraid if I mess with it I will never get it back to smooth operation at sea level. I have also heard I can go with the smaller prop. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Running the smaller prop is the way to go. You shouldn't need to touch anything else on the engine.

I am currently running a 14.5x19 stainless steel prop. How small should I go?
