Carb Popping?

I have a reman 3.0 I just put in had the carb rebuilt. I took it out on the lake and all was fine for the first 10 mins of running around the lake then It seemed I got a slight pause in the engine and then I started to hear a pooping noise coming from the carb I have a distributerless system wires are on the correct plugs the carb has 1 jet srew could I have had a bad rebuild? or could it be something else. Oh by the way when the engine is running the carb is always making the poping nosise every sec or so all the time<br />Please help out of options

Sounds like you are running too lean.....<br />Are you sure the carb. is properly adjusted?<br />Is this condition only under load?.....JK

This is from the time I start the engine to the time I turn it off load or no load<br />I am assuming the adjustment is correct I have messed with the idle srew and the mixterutre srew and it seem not to do anything

if its every sec and the carb is adjusted right, it COULD be a valve not sealing properly. most likely an intake valve if it is. any way of doin a leakdown test? is it a popping noise or a pooping noise?!?

It's a popping noise It did run fine remeber it started after 10 min on the lake I did forget to say that at the same time I noticed that the exaust got loud forgot to tighten up the clamps corrected that problem I also was told it could have an air leak I changed the gasket between the carb and manifold asweel same thing pop pop pop

after reading and learning- im with gary i see the avatars are cachy!!! it just sucks that so many get ripped off on "NEW" junk its pitifull these days.

where did you get this motor at? the mail box or a marine repair shop. i would let them do the work on it if its a new reman..

Had a similar problem with a 3.7l mercrusier with a merc 2bbl carb. I took it apart this weekend and blew it all out with compressed air. (it was way to clean/good shape to need a rebuild). There were some signs of debris in the bowl but very minor.<br />When I put it back together and ran it up it worked perfectly. Maybe you have a similar problem. I would check it out, its worth a try.
