:confused:Well, I took the boat out today and tried to get to WOT. It took off like it was going to, then the engine started cutting in and out then would stall. Last week it did the same thing except it would stall as soon as I opened her up. I took the carb apart and cleaned everything and found my floats stuck in the closed position-fixed that but I still have a problem?? The boat will cruise just fine from 3-8mph I'm guessing this is in fact a carb problem- not sure what to do next? The carb is an edelbrock.

Maybe the fuel pump is not putting out enough once you are above idle.

Go to You Tube Edelbrock has a series of videos that discuss trouble shooting and corrections.

A carb rebuild is about a 50/50 chance at best for anyone that has never done a carb before. Without the proper equipment and cleaning you probably didn't do anything more than install some new gaskets.
If you had stuck floats and needle valves, you can bet money all those small drilled passages are also plugged.
I'm probably up to 75% or more now that we have an Ultrasonic cleaner and the proper cleaners to use with it.

Do you mean a 75% success rate??

Just curious, who makes the machine?

Yeah, I might have missed some things. It did run better than last week but it was cutting in and out like it wasn't getting enough fuel.

Hello;

Well, my old 302 sputtered last week getting on plane --- only a second --- knew something was wrong --- never runs bad.

Changed the fuel filter ---- looked like new on the outside -- it had about 1-1/2 inches of crud and another inch of water on top of that.

Those water separating filters work well. :D

I carry a spare now ! :rolleyes:
