i have a 2002 merc 200hp 2.5l carbureted engine on a 19 ft stratos bass boat. running a 25p fury prop. for several trips now over a few months after i run to my fishing spot and fish for a little while when i start to leave the motor fires right up but when i throttle up it runs out of gas and i have to pump the primer ball again. then it runs fine to the next spot and when i leave there the same thing again. i changed the primer ball, checked for leaks with a piece of clear fuel line, double clamped all my fittings, made sure the tank vent wasn't clogged, and it doesn't have an anti syphon valve. so can i assume it is a carb problem maybe a stuck needle valve or bad float and if so is there anyway to determine which one without rebuilding all of them? all carbs were rebuilt last year and i only run non ethanol gas so if it is only one then i don't really want to tear into all of them if i don't have to. also once it is running the motor runs fine wot is at 5400rpms and boat runs 60mph loaded with all my gear and me. it does seem sluggish getting up out of the hole though. i almost have to ease onto the throttle to keep it from bogging down. i appreciate any and all input. thanks.
