I have a 1974 mercury 20 hp (model 200) outboard . I have changed the fuel pump and all gaskets, I have a brand new tank , lines and pump with a new filter.I adjusted the float on the carb too. The motor runs great, but you have to squeeze the bulb on the fuel line every once in a while to fill the bowl on the carb. Any ideas would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks guys!!

maybe rebuild your carburetor. make sure all fuel line and vacuum line is free from debree or brand new. I got a manual took all 3 of them off bought a rebuild kit carb cleaner and some air to blow it dry and it works great easy cheap fix. Good luck!

Yeah, I have already had the carb rebuilt, And ran for about 4 hours perfect. The engine still runs perfect, but the new fuel pump still isn't sucking from the fuel line..

The way the fuel line enters the carb can get rubbed through.

If your motor has this problem it will act as you say.

Just replace hose "again", but this time twist the fitting enough so that the hose isn't being pounded into a sharp edge.

Re: carb problems....no vacuum?

I have checked for leaks and there isn't any at all. The fuel line going from the tank to the motor is leak free and the fuel line inside the motor going to the fuel pump ( which is 2 inches) is also leak free. The carb is getting fuel, but its not pumping... I'm so lost from there.... I do appreaciate your help guys thanks..
