I am pretty sure I have a 1959 10 hp evinrude (#10018-14096). Anyway, I was out w/it last year for the first time since I owned it and it started fine and ran but when I opened it up it ran only as fast as a 5 hp would (which I owned for years). I started messing with the carb adjustments (rich, lean, etc.) and she opened up a little more, maybe like a 6 or 7 hp. I kept messing with it and she died. I can't get her started now and don't know what the original setting is for tuning the carb. I need to put the carb adjustments back to what they should be to start fine tuning them. If anyone could help it would be appreciated. <br />Also, when I was running the same engine that one time last year and I opened here up, she would run for about a minute and then die as if she ran out of gas. She kept doing this every time I opened her up all the way. If I kept her at only 50 or 75% she wouldn't die. Anyone know why this is? Thanks in advance.
