Ok I will be upgrading my carburetor to an aftermarket one in the near future. I have a 1990 7.4 Mercruiser with the quadra junk carb on it. Does anyone know what CFM rating off the top of their head it is rated at? Sorry I dont have the carb numbers at the moment. I also just noticed that the type of choke the thing has is connected somehow to the top of the intake manifold and has some linkages that go to the choke plate, does anyone know what type of a choke this is? Once again I apologize for not having any pictures.:D
Also could this be the reason i have some problems with hard starting at first?

Ayuh,..... Go with the 1410 Edlebrock, it's the same as Merc uses,.... 750 cfm,....

That's a choke stove choke,.... switch to electric,....

Electric usually don't rust out like a choke stove does,....

Gotcha, Thanks Bondo. Could that be the reason I have a hard time starting her at times, that particular choke setup?

The choke coil and choke cover are both available at Quadrajet.com. But the electric conversion works better. You can get those easily too.
A proper qjet is a very highly developed carb that works under any conditions. If you can't redo your Quadrajet the Edelbrock will suit you nicely though.
