carb rebuild: another question

I have the carbs apart

On the upper body, in the center of the float there is a tube like thing with what looks like a flathead screwdriver slot to remove it. Along the length of that tube a couple small hole are in it.

2 of the slots look fine, one looks like someone had tried to remove it but failed , the screwdriver slot looking thing at the end of 1 tube looks..for want of a better word, stripped, rounded off

Is it nessesary to remove that tube while cleaning the carbs?

I looked at my carb diagram I have, and it appears to me that part is not removable and to get it you must buy the whole upper carb body.

Will that rounding off of the slot cause me any problems as far as carb operation?

Thanks!
Carl

If it`s just the tip thats sheared off,it won`t hurt it.

Re: carb rebuild: another question

The inner diameter of the tube is about 3/16" , I can see all the way thru it up to the intake part of the carb (where the throttle and choke plate/paddle things are)

The little holes in the side along the tube I can also see thru.

Looks clean to me by eyebaling it up in the sunlight.

Thanks!
Carl
