carb rebuild question

i took my carb to work oh yeah its a 62 rudey type 2 40 hp my question as the seloc book totally skip the part of removing the bowl i can not for the life of me get the bowl off to replace needle and seat any hints or am i missing something i didnt want to get to barbaric on it as i dont want to break it and one more question if fuel is pouring out of hole to the right top of throttle body out of front does that mena the needle isnt seating

DSL.... If you've got all of the screws out of the float chamber body, hold the carburetor sideways in one hand, then smack the float chamber body with the handle of a screwdriver. It's simply stuck.<br /><br />Fuel flowing out of the carb indicates that the float needle valve is stuck open or the air vent in the carb is clogged with a ant nest or something of that nature. Usually it's the needle valve.<br /><br />The size of the H/S jet is printed on the side of it. If it's difficult to get out, I suggest you leave it where it belongs and simply clean it with a piece of solid wire and solvent. The OMC part number is 307813 but it has been unavailable since 1980.

once you get the carb apart, take out the float. Soak it in carb cleaner for 2 or three days. then rinse it with water. That should get the gunk out of it.
