Carb Rebuild

I have a 75hp Chrysler model 756H4L S/N 1061. I put my boat in for the first time Sunday and of course it would not idle. Last season I put a new fuel pump diaphram as a maintenance item. So I pulled it up out of the water and took it home. I pulled the three carbs off, went and got rebuild kits. I tore down the carbs cleaned with carb cleaner, blew out with compressed air, and put the new parts in from the rebuild kit. I set the idle screw at one turn open on each carb. Now for my question, anything special I should watch out for when I hook up the throttle linkage? I have a Seloc manual and I'm following that as best I can, but I do know not everything is in them. Any help or advice would be grealy appreciated.

If you removed the carburators correctly it should be pretty straight forward. The main thing is to connect the correct carb to the correct cylinder. I believe they are jetted differently. I would open the mixture adjustment a bit more to 1 1/4 turn unless they were set at 1 turn before you removed them. Follow the link and sync procedures and you should not have a problem

The same carbs went back on the same cylinders they came off of. I was sure of that. I did each carb one at a time as not to mix up any of the parts. I just got the throttle linkage hooked up and Im' dying to start it up. My neighbors might be a little upset... As soon as it is 10AM Im' going to start it up. I set each idle to about 1 14/ open. Hopefully that will do the trick.

IF you are using water muffs I can see why your neighboors are going to be upset. You may need to readjust the mixture screws when you get it back in the water. The motor will have more back pressure in the lake or in a test tank then with the muffs.

It has been awhile since I have read link and sync. Seems to me you want to make sure that the eccentric cam on the carb throttle has a slight air gap in neutral. About the thickness of a sheet of paper. Best to warm motor up and put in forward at as low an rpm you can get to adjust the carbs.

I finally got to start it up and test this afternoon. I put the float spring on the middle carb incorrectly. I had to take that back off and fix. Once that was accomplished it started up and ran perfect. I was running on muffs, so hopefully everything will work correctly when I put in the water. I also put a new tach on. So my 4th of July was dedicated to boat maintenance...A perfect holiday in my book.

congratulations. Got to love it when something goes right. Keep an eye on your spark plugs after you put some time on it. If the plugs look too dry turn the carb a bit counter clock wise to make that cylinder burn a little richer. You want the plug tip to look slightly wet with a bit of oil residue on it.
