Re: carb setting 89 85 hp force

It really depends on your demographics. The starting point I believe is 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns out and then go from there. Put the muffs on it or have the boat in the water and get it warmed up. Turn the mixture screw in until the engine starts to race from leaning out. Then, turn the screw out until it begins to stumble from being too rich. Then adjust somewhere between these two points. Go slow. Around 1/8 of a turn at a time with a 15 sec or so pause between each turn to allow the engine to stabelize with each turn. And only adjust one at a time. Hope this helps and good luck.

Idle is set with the cam and follower. Two inch big headed screw with 7/16 locknut.Air is set :look at the front of your carb(big hole)It will have a smaller hole on the front top.If you have the long air deflector it will have 3 holes in the front, you will need a 16"long real skinny flathead screwdriver.J

The idle needs to be set with the boat in the water ,tied off to the dock ,in gear, and in neutral to check the difference between the two, but generally it needs to be set with a load on it.

@17Force, Refer to the FAQ sticky at the top of the threads main page. In there you will find Frank A's "Link and Sync" procedure that addresses everything you need to know about carb and idle adjustment.
