Carb settings for 1986 225hp Johnson

Does anyone have the proper setting / tuning info for a 1986 Johnson 225 Model J225TXCD handy?<br />Any tips / pointers / watch-outs for cleaning & rebuilding these carbs? I have 6 kits with new floats and needle valve assemblies ready to go.<br /><br />I just ordered a manual from iboats but they can’t get it to me over night shipping and I want to be on the water this weekend! <br /><br />Mac

Look for a second opinion to verify, but just from memory I think its 7/8ths turns

The 1986 loopers all had fixed jets. Just make sure you get the idle and mid range jets back in where they belong -- IE, dont mix 'em up.<br /><br />Personally I like to use crossflow needle and seats in the loopers but the ones in the kit will work. OE kits are strongly recommended.<br /><br />The linkage can be a bit tricky -- be patient. And dont forget the connection on the butterfly linkage between the middle and bottom throttle body on each side. Make sure each butterfly is completely closed. Start with the bottom carb on each side, then the top two then set the linkage that goes across.<br /><br />Make sure you use the correct carb body to throttle body O ring. Make sure its in the grooves.<br /><br />The side plates on the carb bodies can leak air and drive you crazy. Make sure they are sealed good.

Hold the carb body upside down and the edge of the float should be even with the carb body.

It may be obvious, but just in case....you adjust the float level by slightly bending the tab that the needle valve attaches to.<br /><br />Good Luck!
