Hi guys, I'm wondering if a duel carb and mani off a VP140 would make a good set up for a VP120 the reason i want to do this is due to the 120's carb is a goner and i had these sitting around if it will work is there any advantage to doing this? or should i just replace the one carb that the 120 already has? thx for any ideas and input.

Re: carb swap question

They use the same carb don't they? Personally I would just take one of the pair you have and run it that way. I don't know if the performance would be that much better with the dual carbs.

Or, you could bolt on the twin carbs and see what happens. I don't know what else is involved.

Have you looked at the manual for any adjustment differences?

I looked at the manual. It looks like they are jetted a little different. You may have to remove the jets from the old carb and install on one of your twin carbs. they also have different fuel pumps.

Good luck, Let us know what you do.:)

Re: carb swap question

Are those single barrel carbs? Duel carbs are always a pita to keep set and tuned alike. Your absolute best bet would be a progressive two barrel. They're like a 4 barrel cut in half length wise. A single barrel for the primary and a single barrel for the secondary. You get both economy and power when you need it.

I don't think they make a marine version but if you know what you're doing, you can modify an auto. They were all pretty much made to EPA standards for air pollution controlled to prevent leaks in throttle shafts or overflow/vents.

Re: carb swap question

hi again, after further inspection of the 2 cards i found one has a problem with the accelerator pump so I'm just going to go with the single carb swap and have the other for a spare or parts. and sell the mani it looks like new.
thank for all your input life is so much easier with this iboats form! what would we do with out it! loads of trial and error i bet for the guys like me who know bits n pieces but not the whole picture lol:D
