Make sure that they are not choked carbs and that they have the small fittings on the tops for the primer solenoid hoses.

Yes, some bubble back crossflows had 1 5/16" carbs. What is it you're trying to accomplish?

Re: Carb to motor?

Dhadley asked "What are you trying to accomplish?" This is an important question. Are you replacing a bad set or trying for the famous horsepower jump? I think he may be getting at the idea that changing to a bigger carb may not be all there is to getting to the higher horsepower engine in a series. Many seem to think if you p[ut 140 carbs on a 115, you have a 140. There are other differences besides carbs.

Re: Carb to motor?

Yes, I want to jump my power a bit higher. The exhaust was different as well on the 140s, as well as the heads, but the 115 heads are supposed to have better compression than the old 140 heads, though I have both. As for the exhaust my fling has a good exhaust already. So I would like to try a set of 140 carbs. On another note my current fling motor does not have the bubble back which confuses me. But everything else is the same, I think it is 2 years newer then the one I pulled out. What should the bore size be on a set of 140 cross flow carbs.

Re: Carb to motor?

The 1994-1998 Fling 115HP Turbojet came from the factory with the components of the 1984 and older 140HP crossflow. The rating systems changed mid- 1980's.

If your motor was a flatback, then it was a 90HP Turbojet, which Fling stopped using in 1994.

See the TurboJet parts catalogs at the BRP/Evinrude site: http://shop.evinrude.com/

Select TurboJet at the first parts window.

The intake ports may be different. The flatback is not milled for the exhaust fillers, but you can run without them. Everything else will transfer over.

There are accessory high performance kits in the 1998 parts listings.

You can also run a power pack with no rev limit but you will want to use the best oil and run mix at 24:1 if you do.
