If normal you mean for a car
NO!
Must be a marine rated carb

what exactly is the difference? i can understand the exhaust, and I am sure I will understand the carb when explained but what is different? the boat will only be in fresh water. does that make a difference?

Re: Carb?

Sealed accelerator pump shafts, spring loaded check balls, marine bowl vents and sealed throttle body shafts come to mind for starters. Not to mention USCG approval or cirtification. Edelbroock Preformer series list 1410 750 CFM is a good place to start.

Re: Carb?

It is good to ask...........
Main difference is that
a marine carb is not vented to air.
Doesn't matter if you never run on water....
Besides being mandated by law,
common sense should tell you that
any gas fumes are bad.
Alternator, starter, distributor, wires, electrical
componants MUST be marine rated.
Wire mesh spark arrestors for carb
Alot of parts are marine specific
It should be enough that there are laws
about it.

If you run an automotive carb. you stand a good chance of being able to deliver those bananas...
