Carbon chopped strands?

Hey guys,
Had a mixup on an order and received some 1/4” carbon chopped strands instead of fibreglass chopped strands.
Not worth the drive or hassle to return them, would it be ok to use them in a polyester resin peanut butter mix for fillet or bedding the stringers in?

thanks

The only place I’ll be using thickened epoxy will be when I replace the transom, I plan on bonding the new transom to the inside skin of the hull.
That’s the only place I’ll be using epoxy.
does it make the bond any stronger? I seem unable to find a whole lot of info on chopped carbon or it’s benefits

I guess what I’m also asking is if I’m in a jamb and need to use it, it won’t have any negative implications to throw it into some polyester resin for thickening?

The chopped strand fibers are not really what thickens the resin - it's the cabosil. The chopped strand gives the thickened resin strength. I'm not an expert, but I would probably use it if that's all I had at the time.

So why not use a bit and glue a couple of pieces of wood or fiberglass together.-----A test piece so to speak.

Yeah. I could do a test piece but I have such limited experience with this stuff that I honestly wouldn’t know whether or not it was good

Do you have any fiberglass material handy ?----If so then chop it up and make your own strands ?

Yup, sure do, I have some 1708 biaxial - I should have thought of that, like I said kind of new to the fibreglassing. Thanks.
