carbs draining when engine tilted

anytime i trim the motor up all the way, the carbs(or fuel system in the motor area) drain themselves, making a mess in the engine area. carbs have been cleaned, the fuel lines all had tie wraps on them, i put proper connectors. Not sure what else to do, its kinda annoying.

1980 Johnson 140, suggestions?

The plastic carb cover should have a gasket around it to stop the fuel from leaking.the leaking is normal, some fuel will pass when the floats in the carb get tilted, the plastic cover is mounted an alumfram that has a nipple on back of it with a hose that is supposed to take the fuel that gets trapped inside the cover ,back to the crankcase next time you run.so check for that gasket, the plastic cover can warp from age ,and over torquing the bolts, some bolts dont get put back ,or loosen and fall into engine cowl. Its kinda the nature of the beast over time, get a new gasket and inspect for cuts cracks, plugged up nipple and hose
