carbs look clean... but

well guys, i took the carbs off the engine, its a 72 100HP, and they look super clean. but i was told they need to be cleaned and rebuilt. They look just fine to me. so whats up? what do i need to look for.

i also dont happen to see what is the high speed jets. i was told/i read they were behind some hex something. i dont see anything with a hex. where are these jets.

The high speed jets are in the bottom of the float bowl, deep in the holes behind the drain plugs. One on each side.

Why do you figure it needs rebuilding anyway?

Over time, fuel can dry up in the passages, bowls or jets. Complete disassembly, including jet removal is a good idea-esp if the engine is new to you. An aerosol carb cleaner sprayed through all the passages will determine if they are truly open and clear. Visually inspect each jet. (You need a special tool to get the jets out.) Reassemble.

after reading what everybody else does, they always say "clean the carbs" so i went ahead and cleaned the carbs, i also bought a (2) rebuild kits, but i dont think they neeed it/them.

ive also been falowing the link u just gave me, but its not as "complete" as would like. but thats all because i dont have a manual yet. so my bad.
