I started my journey to rebuild this engine - so far so good. I have a question about the carbs though so I thought I'd post some pictures.

I removed everything from the first carb and cleaned it out completely. All of the jets look clean (nothing is blocked) and I'm ready to put it back together but I was wondering if this looks clean enough to you guys.

I can't tell if these are corroded or just stained. You can see a little more clearly on the third picture about what I'm talking about. I realize that there is still some debris in there - I haven't used an air compressor yet but do you think I need to soak them a bit longer? All I used was Carb Cleaner - should I be using something else?

Thanks!

I would use the regular "carb soak" for one's that bad. You can get it at auto zone fairly cheap.

Use Berryman's Parts Cleaner ... the carb will come out sparkling clean after an overnight soak.

I went out and bought a Carb/Parts cleaner - they didn't have Berryman's Parts Cleaner but I'm hoping that it will work just the same. Thank you for your help!

Your carbs should have come out sparkling clean. They didn't.
