You need somebody who's tried it to tell you whether or not it works - odds of finding that aren't good, IMHO.
Don't think you can tell from looking at the diagrams:
The 1987 has different part #'s for upper and lower.
Do the 1987 carb throats move the same volume of air as the 1995? if not it won't work.
The 1987 has a fixed idle orfice. I guess its possible the stock orfice might be the correct mixture for your motor - if not it won't work.
Is your hi-speed mixture the same as the 1987? If not it won't work. If so, will your motor accelerate without the off-idle circuit?
Are the throttle cams are exactly the same shape, and mounted in exactly the same place relative to the carb cam follower? if not it won't work.
be an interesting experiment, but it could really eat into your fishing time....if you could find a salvage yard close by.......or maybe, call this guy in Oklahoma:
