well after having some fuel issues this boating season, figured i might as well rebuild the carbs during the offseason while its stored. i have an 89 125 hp, there are two sets of numbers on these carbs, neither which are aparently the part number. can someone point me in right directions so i can get the right kit?

Re: carbuerator oem part number?

You need to determine if your carbs have "pressed in" needle valve seats, or "screw in" needle valve seats. The screw in seats have a slot so that you can use a screw driver to remove. If the seat does not have a screw driver slot, then it is pressed in, and in most cases not advisable to replace. To remove the pressed in seat, you have to destroy it. If you have the pressed in seats, and you cannot see any obvious reason to absolutely replace, then leave them alone. I suspect you have the pressed in seats, but you need to verify before ordering the carburetor kit.

Take the carbs off and remove the fuel bowl. It will be obvious as to which type you have.

Like pnwboat says BE CAREFULL!!!! when rebuilding..
The serial# is on a tag someplace on the mid section of your motor.
It is on a tag that has probably fell off or is sun faded and you cant read.
Take the #s to a Mercury dealer and he can(maybe) get what you need. J
