Hello, I need some help. I have a 2003 Mercury 75 four stroke. I had to take it in for service and have been told all four carbs have to be replaced. The cost is 1330.00 dollars. He told me I have the most expensive carbs. Is this a fair price thanks for any help.

Re: Carburators MErcury

Hard to tell exactly which without an engine serial number, but yes you do have the most expensive carbs going and 1330 is in the ballpark. They aren't telling you wrong.
I have had to replace the same type carbs on a Yamaha (they cost more from Yamaha) usually due to water contamination in the carbs. They have lots of small diameter passages that plug easily. Even cleaning with an ultrasonic cleaner will not cure all the problems corrosion causes.
I would strongly suggest you install a water seperating fuel filter, then check and change it regularly to save those carbs.
