I have an older 230cid gm I6 with dual Rochester single barrel carburetors. The front carburetor has a choke but the rear doesn't. The choke uses a bimetal spring that utilizes the engine temperature to open actuate. The engine does not like to start cold. Once the engine is warm it starts instantly. I have tried to adjust the choke but it doesn't make much difference. Cold or Hot the engine runs great... What can I do to enhance the cold starting???

Re: Carburetor/Choke Question

The bimetal spring may be bad. Before starting the engine cold open the trottle wide open than close it and check to see if the choke is closed. If it isn't closed either it is not ajusted correctly or the bimetal spring is bad.

Buttanic
