Two of the threads on the mounting bolts(?) have stripped. I backed out them out with a vise grip. Question, can a guy use a regular bolt or are their replacement parts for this item? They are not bolts, just threaded stubs. Thanks in advance.

I don't think it would make any difference as long as you are sure the bolts are short enough to make sure that you can tighten the mounts tight enough when installing the carb. With the stubs, I am assuming that you would use a nut and washer as opposed to turning the head of a bolt. Also, I would think that a supplier would have the correct studs for you to use. I suppose if they are available and I had a choice to use the studs or the bolts, I would go with the studs.

That's what I was thinking as well. I do have access to an outboard repair shop in my town. I'll give them a visit and see what they have to say. Would like to use the original parts because I'm sure they were designed for a specific purpose, but if I can't find them I will have to resort to using bolts. They shouldn't have to withstand high temps should they? There isn't much, if any, heat generated here is there?

There is not a lot of heat at that point. Again, if you go with bolts, just MAKE SURE they are not long enough to 'bottom out' before they get tight enough to mount the carb tight like it should be. There probably is specifications on the torque that is needed, but if you are like me (and probably most others) you will just tighten them until it feels tight enough, right? lol. If you want it to specs, use of a torque wrench will be required.

I had the local shop just thread me a pair of these studs. Mechanic said they go with these vs bolts because the less amount of times you have to thread/unthread a bolt in an aluminum motor the better. This way you can remove the carbs and many times as you want without having to worry about messing up threads inside the motor.

Now I never thought of that reasoning, but it sure make sense to me now that I heard of it. Thanks for sharing that with us.
