Hello-

Just rebuilt my carb on a Johnson 18hp 1964 model and adjusted the float and put new needle and seat in. The kit has the new plastic float. When I went to prime the system, gas was pouring out the throat of the carb and bubbling out weep hole on top left side of carb. I have had this apart so many times, I am running out of things to check. I did do the test where you turn the carb upside down and try to blow air into the carb. No air would go through when upside down, right side up it allowed it to go through. This should signal that the float is working fine. Also, tried the old needle, seat, and float and it does the same thing! Is there anyone out there who has run into this that could help? Thanks!

The air test means your float valve is working fine. Sounds like your float level is mis-adjusted. I see some tab-bending in your future.

.. Without seaming like I am trying to take this post over, but..... I pump my bulb during operation and nothing happens, no stall, no flood. Just can pump it all day long if u want. Does that mean I still have a fuel leak somewhere? Which is why it wont idle properly? Hmmm..

You will get better results by starting your own thread
Gets confusing when a question is asked in another question asked by another poster about a similar problem but in the same thread even though it's about the same kind of problem  Clear? :p

Thanks for all the help everyone. My problem ended up being a plugged float bowl vent on the side of the carb. Had to take a small drill bit to get the crud out. Cleaned the passage and the float now shuts off the gas flow. No more overflow into the carb from the high speed jet. Took boat out on the lake and it ran pretty good. Thanks!
