I am loosing 1000 rpms (getting 4500, should be 5500). Traced to the following:
Pulled one spark plug at a time, one cylinder not firing. Pulled wire, getting spark, pulled plug and held to metal, it is firing. Looked at carbs, I can see gas spraying from 3 out of 4 carbs. Opened bottom plug on carbs, gas flows from 3, not from the 4th. Any ideas as to the next step I should take?

Thank you!

Pull that carb and clean it. May also use carb rebuild kit while you have it off. Needle may be sticking, etc.

enn & WildeOne. Thanks, i will try that as my next step. I never pulled an outboard carb, was a little reluctant to screw things up and loose someboating time.

That carb also supllies the oil for that cylinder. You will lose alot more time if you have to replace a piston or bearing from lack of lubrication.

I never gave any thought of the lack of lubrication to the cylinder!

Would it get any other lubrication without gas going to it, or have I caused damage?

There is no other means of oil for the cylinder. Only time will tell if damage was done, unless you tear it down. For now remove the carb and replace the float needle and seat. It would not hurt to do the other carbs also. Check the shape of the fuel hoses and replace if needed. Do not use hose clamps as they tend to cut into the hose and cause air leaks. Let us know how things work out for you.

A compression check is the thing to do now before you go any further.

Good luck!
